Despite a fine voice, Kenny Baker wasn't much of a 'looker' for one, and there's a less-than-PC musical number featuring Harpo and a group of minorities. On the other hand, the film has lots of fine humor, especially Groucho's repartee with Margaret Dumont (as Newport society dame Mrs. Dukesbury) during its last third. As Irving Thalberg sagely decreed in 1935, the film has a credible story to hang its jokes on: With one final payment, a struggling young circus operator (Baker) will avoid bankruptcy and finally own his small traveling show outright. He'll also be able to marry Julie Randall (Florence Rice).

But when $10,000 in admissions is stolen, all seems lost. Cheever Loophole (Groucho), Tony Pirelli (Chico) and Punchy (Harpo) come to the rescue, using their own unique talents. Most of the Harold Arlen / 'Yit' Harburg songs are forgettable, yet 'Lydia the Tattooed Lady' makes up for all of them. This is one of Groucho's best musical moments, ranking right up there with his tenor uke playing and vocal on 'Everyone Says I Love You,' from (1932). Eve Arden is excellent as ceiling-walker Peerless Pauline.

So is Fritz Feld (the mouth popper) as pompous French conductor Jardinet. He and an orchestra-packed bandstand float out to sea while Jeff's circus is in full swing on his aunt's enormous back lawn.

The crazy big top chase finale that occurs here equals in zaniness and energy the famous opera house fiasco in (1935). If you haven't yet seen 'At the Circus,' you're sure to enjoy it. If you ARE familiar with the picture but feel 'it's not as good as.,' take another look, please. It's actually a marvelous comedy!. GO WEST (1940) has some decent stuff in it but not a whole lot. It's my least favorite Marx Bros. What a terrible chase sequence at the end-- feh.

What a lousy supporting cast. Whose girlfriend or relative was June MacCloy, may I ask? Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage Cd Download on this page. And where's Maggie D.? Alas, not in this bomb.

How about those songs? 'As If I Didn't Know,' 'Ridin' the Range,' and 'You Can't Argue with Love. Download Whats Up Application For Nokia X2 Mobile here. ' (I can hear Groucho's whine on 'Ridin' the Range' as I type.) Sight gags are rather weak. Again, the mustachioed wag gets it right when he observes about a bandana tied around a train engineer's mouth that it's 'the best gag in the picture.' His other one-liners save this movie from total disaster: Telephone? This is 1870.

Don Ameche hasn't invented the telephone yet! There's something corrupt going on around my pants but I just can't seem to locate it. I'd have thrashed him to within an inch of his life, but I didn't have a tape measure. Lulubelle, it's you! I didn't recognize you standing up. You must fan the flames of love with the bellows of indifference. Didn't we meet at Monte Carlo the night you blew your brains out?
