Am i being an old (35 year old) fool in really thinking that the 1023 was just awsome for its day in 1993 or was it just an over rated myth? I am gonna hunt one down LOL & try it. Anyone had one? In my opinion they hare great amps for certain uses. I wouldn't use one for my front end because they aren't as musical as some amps that are available for similar money (Genesis Profiles for example).

However if you want a good, surprisingly accurate sub response these can make average subs sound decent and decent ones amazing. They've enough power bridged to move most SQ subs and has a natural peak which fits into the sub frequencies as well as that timing. I'll not pass mine on without finding something supremely special to replace it with. I have 2 took me bloody ages to find them! Yet to install them though.

I'm comparing one amp against the likes of the top end Genesis, McIntosh, DLS and the likes. It would be impressive if a, admitedly top of the range, Kenwood could compare favourably with my McIntosh or a full set of Dual Monos, or the A-class DLS amps.

I always say it's best to try than to give up on something because someone prefers something different. It might just be to your tastes. I know a number of people who swear by these amps for the entire system. I've got mine running my L6s at the moment and it's not doing a bad job, I'd expect a lot of people would be very happy with the way they sound.
